These are the best places to see Jacarandas in Queensland

We may not get the changing leaves of autumn or the frosty white tips of snow here (except for in our lovely Southern Queensland Country region), but spring is the time when the Jacarandas bloom to paint the town purple from Brisbane to the Gold Coast and out to the country.

We put the call out for the best spots to see Jacarandas in South East Queensland in all their blooming glory, and these are some of the best.

LOCATION: STORY BRIDGE

Brisbane’s Story Bridge + Jacarandas = name a more iconic duo.

Venture down to Alice Street and you’ll spot this beauty. There are more like her scattered throughout the city. Take a stroll through the City Botanical Gardens and you’ll have countless opportunities to take in their splendour.

LOCATION: NEW FARM PARK, BRISBANE

Notoriously famous for its Jacarandas at this time of year, New Farm Park is the ideal spot to snap an artistic shot.

LOCATION: UQ CAMPUS, ST LUCIA

With a campus covered in purple, we’d definitely prefer cramming outdoors.

LOCATION: MONTVILLE, SUNSHINE COAST

Jellies (sandals) + Jacarandas = purple perfection. If you’re visiting the Sunshine Coast in spring, you can’t miss vibrant Jacaranda trees in full bloom everywhere.

Stroll the dramatic cliffs by the river at Kangaroo Point and you’ll find Jacaranda trees raining overhead and scattering flowers along your path.

LOCATION: BOONAH, SCENIC RIM

These flowers make even the barest fields pop with colour. Take a drive down to the Scenic Rim to see Jacaranda trees flourish against an endless Queensland sky.

LOCATION: LEIS PARK, LAWNTON

Even our furry friends can’t get enough of these purple petals.

LOCATION: MOUNT TAMBOURINE

They’re even more beautiful up close.

Jacaranda trees can make any street come to life in hypercolour.

This is what it’s like to live in Brisbane during spring. Why would anyone want to stay indoors?
