Forget New York; Townsville’s boutique shopping is better than you think
Paris. Milan. New York. Townsville.
Okay, I might be slightly exaggerating but Townsville sure has changed and the city’s boutique shopping scene is bound to impress any fashionista or shopaholic.
If you’re like me, too many options can be overwhelming (it’s a Libran thing) but I have the formula to success: check out the shortlist below, grab your bike and peddle your way to some serious retail therapy.
From antiques to fashion, homewares and furniture, there’s an awesome range of boutiques that will motivate you to shop, literally till you drop.
First things first
Sure, you could hire a car, but Townsville’s CBD is relatively flat and the shopping precincts are within walking distance. If you don’t mind helmet hair and you have energy to burn, hire a push bike from Outer Limits Adventure. It’s fun, almost free and you get to take a closer look at the city sights (like the epic street art).
Gregory Street sits under the shadow of Castle Hill and is a 1.5km, 10-minute ride from Flinders Street along The Strand. This strip has great cafes, fashion boutiques and a few homeware stores. Be sure to stick your nose into…
