It ain’t just boardies and thongs (aka flip flops) being rocked on the Sunshine Coast. The shopping scene has stepped up in a big way, so we thought we’d give you the ultimate shopping guide to the Sunshine Coast, where you’ll find all the favourite local hotspots!
Note: Because we are pretty lucky to be overwhelmed by choice, we’ve had to break it down by region. Starting you off, the best from Mooloolaba to Marcoola.
The Change Room

Ark & Arrow
Got a festival coming up? Head to Ark & Arrow for the hottest styles going. Get decked out boho-style with their floral print rompers, flared pant-suits and Western tan tassel vests, then amp it up with chunky belts, statement jewellery and suede Indian pouches.

This designer boutique has been a front-runner on the Sunshine Coast fashion scene for over 15 years and is a favourite of Styling You blogger, Nikki Parkinson. With their stunning range of modern and classic womenswear from national and international designers like Camilla, Sacha Drake and Joseph Ribkof, you’re guaranteed style, comfort and quality at Zambezee Boutique.

Why are we showing a picture of a sausage dog in a cart? Because if you pick the right day to pop into Number Nineteen you could be greeted by this cutie. (We know, you’re sold already.)
Don’t let the size fool you; this store has some of the best brands in guys and gals fashion. Name drop: One Teaspoon, Tigerlily, and Scotch and Soda to name a few. On the accessories side of things, cue The Horse watches, The Beach People towels, and locally made Odd Pears socks… yep, one of each please. #wewish
We also love their pretty random but totally cool gifts, like a knitted cactus or inflatable crown.

This is boho luxe at its finest! Located on Peregian Beach is Bohemian Sundays, created for the gypsies at heart, with colourful and embellished clothes and accessories from brands like Free People, Arnhem, and Goddess of Babylon. A standout? The Billi Blue recycled cowboy boots.

Girls, if you want to stay on-trend and up-to-date with the latest in fashion, Shine Boutique is where it’s at. If you didn’t go there for your Splendour In the Grass outfit then you missed out because they stock a damn fine range of brands including MinkPink, Somedays Lovin, Paper Heart, Wish, and even Flash Tattoos. And if you’re stuck on outfit ideas, the lovely ladies are happy to style you from top to toe.

For all you skaters, head to SkateSAUCE for the latest boards and skate apparel. We spy stock from Primitive Apparel, Globe, Nike, Diamond Supply Co., Fourstar clothing and more. Bonus: You can test out your new buys straight away at the skate park with the best beach views across the road.

Cotton Tree Markets
Forget sleeping in on a Sunday morning and head to the Cotton Tree Markets. Trucking on in rain, hail or shine, you will find beautiful stalls from local artisans ranging from handmade jewellery, soaps and eye-catching cushion prints, to shells, kids toys, candle bowls and more. And there’s always great live music or entertainment going down.

Alterior Motif is so much more than just a fashion boutique; it represents the coastal luxe lifestyle and effortless style that is the Sunshine Coast. Stocking the latest and greatest from brands like Lilya, Zoe Karssen, Cameo the Label and Fallen Broken Street, if you want to invest in quality and lasting statement pieces, this store is not to be missed.

Spice up your life with Inside India! As soon as you walk in your senses will be mesmerised by the smell of incense and their vibrant collection of authentic Indian handicrafts, ornaments, homewares and clothes. It’s the perfect shop for homebodies looking for knick knacks that are rich in detail with a bit of bohemian flare.
Where: 7 The Esplanade, Cotton Tree (they also have another store in Montville)

The Silva Spoon
Buying gifts can be a pain in the donkey. But if you’ve got a friend who’s a tea or coffee fanatic, then look no further than the Silva Spoon. Not only is the tea and coffee emporium a go-to for a delicious cuppa and sweet treat, but they stock a beautiful range of teapots and cups in bold and bright colours and patterns. Throw in a bag of their favourite tea leaves or coffee beans (or maybe surprise with an exotic flavour) and you’re set.

Willow and Bird
If beachy luxe is the style you’re going for at home, then Willow and Bird is right up your alley. From macrame plant holders, pineapple lamps and banana leaf print cushions, to leather tote bags, tribal necklaces and wood watches, there are so many goodies, you will want to go home with the lot!

For top to toe coastal glam, ladies, head to OV Boutique. Warning: Time may pass a little too quickly while you browse (and let’s be honest, try on) their gorgeous range of clothes, shoes and accessories from brands like Mela Purdie, Metalicus, Tilly Rose, Senso, Elisa Cavaletti and Marilyn Seyb. One thing’s for certain, you won’t be stuck for choice.

Finn & Dash Toys
This is probably one of the coolest kids store’s we’ve ever come across. We’re talkin’ Indian-inspired headpieces and arrows, Sonny Angel dolls, Miffy bunny lamps, pirate doona covers and more. Not only is Finn & Dash Toys a kid’s heaven, but an adults too. With their quirky and cool range of prints, wall art and bed linen, it would be hard not to go nuts and pimp out your kid’s bedroom! (Or your own.)
Side note: Their kids range of Fallen Broken Street hats are perfect for us ‘big kids’ with a small head. Oh, and be sure to check out their other store, Finn & Dash Bikes, if you’re looking for a sweet ride.

The newest addition to Cotton Tree, DoCo Lifestyle has impressed with their eclectic beach-inspired decors and fashion. Find organic clothes made in Byron Bay, unique – and surprisingly soft – cork bags and pillows, and feather and shell plume wall features. If you’re on the hunt for something that’s a little different from the norm but still has that coastal feel to it, this is where you will find it.

Sassi on Duporth
If you love colourful and quirky statement pieces, Sassi on Duporth is your next stop. Their boutique range of ladies fashion and accessories swings between casual and dressy, and is perfect if you’re looking for a little something that stands out from the crowd.

Board Store Espresso
Love skating? Love coffee? Then Boardstore Espresso in Maroochydore is where you need to be. After checking out their boards, skate apparel and accessories, be sure to grab a steaming cup of their locally roasted Stoker Coffee (and maybe a bagel, or two).

RAW Sunshine Coast
RAW Sunshine Coast is a hidden gem on the Sunshine Coast, specialising in hand-crafted and custom-made reclaimed timber furniture. They source locally recycled materials to construct each unique piece, from chairs, desks and entertainment units, to crafty and colourful bowls, jars, and pillows. Check out their showroom in Maroochydore or get in touch for custom orders.

No shopping post on the Sunshine Coast would be complete if we didn’t mention the Sunshine Plaza. From your trusty Myer, Kmart and Target, to fashion and leisure retailers like Universal, Dissh, Country Road, Lorna Jane, Kikki K and Pandora, you can easily spend the whole day here.
If you’ve got little ones, keep them entertained by hiring a paddle boat and exploring the natural waterway that cuts through the centre of the complex. The Plaza also makes for a fun night out, starting with a bite to eat on the Riverwalk, shooting hoops at the game arcade, and topping it off with a movie at Event Cinemas.

The Island Surf & Espresso
Surf. Skate. Coffee break. Repeat. The Island Surf & Espresso is a locally-owned cafe and surf shop that smells like a coffee heaven and is home to guys surf and skate apparel (with a few bikinis thrown in for the ladies).
At first glance it might not look like their packin’ much, but once inside you’ll find shark and shaka fins, toy figurine surfboarders (resembling those old school plastic green army figures), T-shirts with pineapple skeletons and Globe cruisers lining the walls. While you’re there, you may as well pick up a coffee and pretzel; it’d be rude not to.
