AFC Asian Cup soccer stars dominate in Brisbane
There’s nothing like seeing a soccer fan in action. Dressed in their team colours, supporters sit on the edge of their seats, erupting into a single deafening cheer when their team scores an all-important goal.
That was the scene at Suncorp Stadium during the AFC Asian Cup – an event that sees the 16 best teams in Asia battle it out for football glory every four years. This year, over 160,000 fans attended games in Brisbane, one of five host cities across Australia.
The quarterfinal match-up between the Socceroos and China PR was a highlight for fans lucky enough to witness Tim Cahill continue to prove his God-like status with some epic bicycle-kick, goal-scoring action – sending the Socceroos straight into the semi-finals.
As the Socceroos prepare to battle it out in the final against South Korea on Saturday night in Sydney to win the tournament for the first time ever, we look back at our favourite moments from the 2015 AFC Asian Cup below.
