The best Gold Coast Day Spas

7 of the best Gold Coast day spa treatments

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Australia’s most popular beachside getaway is also one of the best places to get far, far away. Here are the seven of the most sinful spa treatments on the Gold Coast to dip your toes into. Alright, stop. Pamper time!

1. SpaQ at  QT Hotel

Calling all commitment phobes, have we’ve got a signature treatment for you. And at SpaQ, that’s no treatment at all. Instead guests pick a time, lock in a price, and then leave it to the day to decide what therapy they want. As spa manager Suzy says, “You don’t order your meal when you book a restaurant. So why would you pre-book your treatment?”

The cost of the Freshly Picked Experience is based on time (at $130 per hour) and all therapists are trained to expertly flip from facials to body treatments and massages. Or creatively mix all three.

2. Exclusive Spas at Q1 Resort & Spa

If you’re burnt out, literally, the 60-minute Coconut Ocean Wave treatment at Q1 Resort & Spa will have you smelling just like a Bounty chocolate bar before you know it. This rich coconut oil wrap is full of hydrating juicy goodness to boost skin that’s seen a little too much Queensland sun.

Voted the Number 1 Spa on the Gold Coast by Conde Nast Traveller, the Q1 Spa is also kitted out for dual treatments allowing couples, honeymooners and BFF to double date. And what’s a date without champagne and strawberries – all on the menu at Q1.

3. Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat

Why settle on an hour’s treatment, when you can have an entire weekend (or more) to cocoon at Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland.

This hilltop getaway is a closet womb for the world’s rich and famous, not to mention a defibrillator for the nation’s burnt out business types. With 33 treatment rooms (the largest in the southern hemisphere) serving up a raft of options and an endless supply of activities like Tai Chi, yoga and gardening, Gwinganna promises to calibrate you in no time.

Just keep one eye peeled for Wolverine; part owner Mr Jackman is rumoured to be a regular guest here between his Hollywood hits.

4. Harbour Day Spa at Outrigger Hotel

Leave the hoodie behind and bring your fancy pants to this place! Harbour Day Spa promises you’ll look as good as you feel after their Signature Face and Body Experience.

The three-hour (and $350) popular treatment re-engineers the body from toe to top; starting with a milk foot soak, a full body brush, a relaxing head-to-toe massage and an invigorating scalp massage. Cap that off with a blow dry and a Hollywood-style make-up revamp, and you’ll walk out looking and feeling a million dollars.

Harbour Day Spa is voted Best Day Spa in Australia (APAA) and is located in the Outrigger Hotel and Resort, just footsteps from some of the fanciest restaurants in town. Hello, cocktail hour!

5. Lattouf Hair and Day Spa at Surfers Paradise Marriott Hotel & Resort Spa

Burn the candle at both ends without even hitting SinCity (er, that’s a nightclub). The one-hour Lattouf Signature Candle Massage at Lattouf Day Spa offers a choice of four different scented soy candles that burn at a low melting point creating a potion of oozy warmth that’s used as the basis for this hydrating massage.

The candles burn for up to 52 hours allowing you to continue the treatment and the therapy back home. Scents include Lemon & Green Tea, Melon & Fig, Peppermint and Rosemary, Vanilla, Cinnamon & Clove Botanica.

6. Eforeaspa at Hilton Surfers Paradise

This place looks a little like that scene out of Bruce Almighty when Jim Carey meets up with God (aka Morgan Freeman). Just like the Hollywood version of heaven, Eforeaspa at Hilton Surfers Paradise dishes up masses of light, sheer floaty curtains and minimalistic backdrop, and promises you will “emerge brighter”. And that’s before you get into their celestial version of a vichy room.

The spa has all the hallmarks of five-star treatments with a focus on the oft-forgot sex. Here men are firmly on the agenda, with a Three Part Recharging Massage that uses bamboo rolled over the body to relieve tension in the shoulder, back and neck.

7. Aurora Spa Retreat at Palazzo Versace

Put double the “ahhh” into 60 minutes of spa time with four hands, two therapists and one intensely blissful hour from Aurora Spa’s Signature Allawah Treatment.

This body beating session has the glamour of Versace stamped all over it and offers twice the pleasure principle with one therapist concentrating on your scalp and facial while the other works the rest of your body. If that’s not enough couture bragging, then book the Signature Caviar Ultra Hydrating Facial for $275 and load up on protein-rich caviar and powerful antioxidants that hydrate, lift, firm and smooth just about your entire body.

  • Derek Boughton

So the Q1 Spa claims to have been voted the Number 1 Spa on the Gold Coast by Conde Nast Traveller. This magazine’s website has no knowledge of them! And I’m not surprised –
I have been to many spa’s around the world but I have never had such appalling (lack of) service as here! I booked 2 days in advance for a couple’s treatment for my partner’s birthday. We arrived well in time, to be told they could not find the booking (no apologies and an attitude suggesting it was OUR fault!). She spent a couple of minutes rechecking their system and then shrugged at us as if to say ‘hard luck’. I told her I was not satisfied and her only response was that it wasn’t her fault so I reminded her that sitting at the desk, she was the representative of the Spa and ought to take proper responsibility.
A few moments later she walked away without saying anything to us!! A while later another employee came to the desk and we asked her to help. She eventually raised a piece of paper into the air saying ‘Oh, it’s here but hasn’t been put into the system’. Once again, no apologies and no solution. I told her that in addition, I had rung the Spa 8 times in the last 2 days but nobody answered; she said that the receptionist was sick today. When I asked about yesterday there was silence.
So, I repeated that I had booked especially for my partner’s birthday – what are they going to do to resolve this? The only response was ‘would you like to re-book for tomorrow?’.
My partner, who works in hospitality was flabbergasted – no apology, no recompense, no attempt to help and no offer of any sort.
This is an organisation that claims to be the best (and certainly charges as if it is!!).
Frankly, it’s just the most appalling Spa in the world! Birthday treat evaporated, day ruined! Thanks but no thanks Q1 (and your parent Exclusive Spas).
