Have a Modern Family holiday on One&Only Hayman Island

You’ve probably heard one of the hottest TV shows in the world right now (Modern Family) filmed an episode at one of the hottest islands in the world right now back in 2014 (One&Only Hayman Island).

The 55 cast and crew flew into the Great Barrier Reef airport in the Whitsundays after their short stay in Sydney, then jumped onto the Sun Goddess launch to One&Only Hayman Island to film their special ‘Australian vacation’ episode!

The episode showcased One&Only Hayman Island just in time for their re-launch to the world on 1 July 2014. The island resort underwent a full refurbishment and rebranding and the stars of Modern Family were the first to get a peek at the new look.

Steven Levitan, Modern Family executive producer, said, “We’re going to get some footage of the cast enjoying Queensland – lots of water, boating, images of the Great Barrier Reef, scuba diving and snorkelling around Hayman Island”.

Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy) was super excited to be in Queensland and couldn’t wait to arrive on One&Only Hayman Island. “This is my first trip to Australia and my goodness it’s so beautiful here in Queensland,” he said.

We loved the sneak peeks on Instagram and Twitter, too!

If you’re thinking, “Hey, if it’s good enough for them, then it’s good enough for me”, here’s how you can have your own Modern Family holiday on One&Only Hayman Island.

Relax and unwind

Your massage bed is in the ocean and the therapist is massaging you whilst the tropical fish of the Great Barrier Reef swim beneath you. And the kids? Well they’re off doing one of the following activities…

Kids Club

One&Only Hayman Island has the best recipes for keeping the kids busy while you chill out. They can:

  • Participate in fish feeding.
  • Play beach games and mini tennis.
  • Visit the famous Chocolate Room.

Teen time

For the kids that aren’t exactly kids anymore but aren’t exactly adults yet, they’ll feel all grown up when they step into the One&Only Spa to experience one of the Teen Facials.

Spa time for the Modern Family

While the adults are living it up in the spa getting a couple’s massage, the kids can relax with a Teen and Kids Spa Party. They’ll learn about how to look after their skin, have their arms exfoliated and toenails painted! No red cordial or fairy bread needed.

Most important meal of the day

If it’s some quality family time you want, have a fresh and filling buffet breakfast at Azure where the chef will cook your eggs to perfection – anyway your mind can imagine! Then head out for some fishing, snorkelling or even a seaplane or helicopter ride to check out the epic views from above the gorgeous island!

The family that plays together…

Get some incidental exercise in (and a tan without even trying) as you explore one of the many walking trails around the island. There’s the Sunset Peak Walk, which is obviously better off done when the sun is setting to really appreciate the views of the gorgeous Whitsundays.

Eating out

The most important thing to think about on a (modern) family holiday is what you’re going to eat and when. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed anywhere on the island or take a yummy Gourmet Picnic prepared by the One&Only Hayman Island chefs to somewhere special in the Whitsundays group of islands for your own castaway adventure.
