1. Emilie Ristevski

Emilie Ristevski Instagram

Emilie Ristevski’s (@helloemilie) Instagram feed is 100% whimsical and so damn dreamy. Soft pastel overtones, cute hats and rows of cane fields transport you into the world of this Australian photographer and blogger.

Hailing from Sydney and now based in northern NSW, Emilie has been flooded with opportunities via Instagram (meaning more travel) leading her to develop her own photography and styling work. “All I ideally love to do is wander off and aimlessly explore with a camera in my hand,” she says.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I discovered Instagram back in 2010 after purchasing my first iPhone. I have always had a love for photography but using Instagram developed as a way to document, capture moments and, most importantly, tell stories and create meaning through my imagery. I wanted a place I could carefully curate my imagery to work together in a harmonious way.

One of my favourite things about Instagram is definitely discovering and connecting with so many wonderful people I would never have had to chance to know without using it. I feel like I have developed my own little community with people who inspire me every day with the beautiful insights they share.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

Earlier this year I had a wonderful trip exploring Tropical North Queensland but there are also so many locations that I would have never known existed; until a local shows you. I also particularly love the wild mountainous area hidden within the Scenic Rim – the whole landscape that surrounds this place is magical!

2. Lauren Bullen

Lauren Bullen Instagram

Travel. Fashion. Extremely good looking people. Yeah, basically we all want to be Lauren Bullen (@gypsea_lust).

After travelling for most of 2014, full-time dental assistant and part-time ‘grammer Lauren relocated from Northern NSW to Cairns and hasn’t put down the camera since. Expect waterfalls, windows into the Great Barrier Reef… and pangs of jealousy.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I have been on Instagram since the app first started but Instagramming to reach an audience and express myself for just over a year. My twin sister @elsas_wholesomelife motivated me to start using Instagram as a way to express my passion rather than to just connect with friends.

I love how it can connect you with so many different people with similar interests and passions. It gets me out there and motivated to find and explore new places.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

Tropical North Queensland! There is so much to see and do. From the Tableland waterfalls, the Daintree Rainforest and, of course, the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding islands!

3. Amanda Shadforth

Amanda Shadforth Instagram

Mandy from @oraclefoxblog needs no introduction in fashion circles. The jetsetting creative director and star of Fashion Bloggers on E! takes you along for the ride as she travels to far-flung cities and private islands. But we also love the snaps of her hometown on the Sunshine Coast just as much.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started my Instagram account about three years ago. As a visual artist, it was a really fun medium for me to use to curate my photography and play around with the aesthetic of my account. It allows me to create an instant visual representation of Oracle Fox and our brand.

One of my favourite things about Instagram is how it allows me to connect with my readers. It’s amazing to have a direct line of communication with them and I love hearing their feedback. It’s great to read their comments about what they love and what they would like to see more of on the account. Being able to speak with your audience in such an instant way is a really fun aspect of social media and a powerful tool in the modern business environment.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

I was recently lucky enough to work on a project that saw me spend some time on Bedarra Island and shoot a creative editorial for Oracle Fox Journal. I was completely blown away by the beauty of that place and to have been able to experience its special connection with incredible natural surroundings.

It was definitely the Robinson Crusoe fantasy getaway I have always dreamed of and it really is a true paradise.

4. Jaharn Giles

Jaharn Giles Instagram

Travel blogger Jaharn Giles (@misterweekender) is one of the lucky few who can name travelling the world as her full-time job! On an endless hunt for #naturefroth, Jaharn’s feed is full of candy-floss skies, stunning beach vistas and epic lookouts.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started on Instagram for Mister Weekender in November 2013 as a way to connect people with my landscape photos, and to inspire them to travel the world.

I love connecting with like-minded people who love nature and adventure as much as I do, as well as meeting other photographers and travel bloggers.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

I live in Coolum on the Sunshine Coast so I would have to say it’s definitely a slice of paradise. However I absolutely fell in love with Cairns and the Daintree when I was visiting earlier this year, it’s so gorgeous and wild!

5. Jason Charles Hill

Jason Charles Hill Instagram

Hailing from Brisbane, self-taught photographer Jason Charles Hill (@jasoncharleshill) has managed to create a life of world wanderings, capturing epic landscape shots, dreamy star trails and endless plains along the way.

Until recently, Jason was working a regular 9-5 day job but due to higher demand for social influencers, he’s taken the gamble to follow his dream as a travel and adventure photographer.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started on Instagram about 18 months ago just as a bit of fun and didn’t begin take it seriously until I started to receive a large positive response from my followers, tourism bodies and companies.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

I can’t just name one! I’ve always had a love for the mountains so when I have some spare time you can find me hiking through the incredible Lamington National Park. During summer look for me on North Stradbroke Island soaking up the sun and surfing at some of Queensland’s (and the world’s) best beaches.

6. Lena Hepehi

Lena Hepehi Instagram

In October 2013 Lena Hepehi brought a 4WD trooper and set out to see the real Australia  – the @streetsofaustralia Instagram account is the result.

Hailing from Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, head to Lena’s feed for a daily view into the sun-soaked local lifestyle of one of Queensland’s favourite beaches.

7. Lisa Michele Burns

Lisa Michele Burns Instagram

When Lisa Michele Burns (@the_wanderinglens) isn’t up in the sky capturing all the shades of the Whitsundays or diving below to capture underwater dreamscapes, you might find her strolling through lavender fields in France or getting lost in bamboo gardens in Japan. When she’s in Australia, she calls the Sunshine Coast home.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

Instagram is an interactive visual medium so as a photographer it’s the perfect way to share the best photography locations with my followers and friends. I love that when you post a photo, people in all corners of the world with a common interest can see it… it still amazes me when someone travelling hundreds of thousands of miles away clicks ‘follow’.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

The Whitsundays have it all… 74 islands, the Great Barrier Reef, Whitehaven Beach. It’s the best destination for aerial and underwater photography plus it’s even warm in winter, pretty hard to beat!

8. Stephen Waller

Stephen Waller Instagram

Photography started out as a hobby but soon became a full-blown passion for Brisbane-based TV Producer Stephen Waller (@swaller4) who travels around Australia capturing spectacular moments in nature – from long exposure shots of waterfalls to fog-enveloped cities, to skies full of star trails.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do love most about it?

I started on Instagram about four years ago. What drew me to Instagram initially was that you were able to share your images and engage with like-minded people from all over the world. And I loved the fact these were people I didn’t know and that the ‘socialness’ of the engagement was based around a love of photography.

The great thing now is I’ve actually met a lot of these people and formed genuine friendships. It’s also encouraged me to get out and explore areas of South-East Queensland that I probably wouldn’t have if it hadn’t been for this little app!

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

I love everything about the south-east corner of Queensland. There’s just such an amazing variety of places to visit – from the beaches of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, the lush rainforests in the hinterland to the rural landscapes of the Scenic Rim.

9. Kylie Roberts

Kylie Instagram

Kylie Roberts (aka @kpinko) is a solo mum of four, based on the Gold Coast with an insatiable appetite for stunning sunsets, lone trees and seemingly endless boardwalks and piers. Playing with the sunlight, clouds and the beauty in nature, she’s curated one of the most soothing Instagram feeds around.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started on Instagram about three years ago. I love interacting and meeting people that have the same love of nature and our beautiful surroundings. Instagram has been a very positive journey for me – and a fantastic creative outlet. I get inspired by a lot of photographers and I’m flattered that people enjoy my photos.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland?

I love holidaying anywhere in Queensland – I love the diversity, from our beautiful clean beaches to our sublime waterfalls the stunning hinterlands and the vastness and space of the countryside. I love going on road trips and discovering natural treasures – even if it’s a tree full of its own unique personality.

I spend a lot of time up at the Sunshine Coast, and my family and I had a wonderful holiday earlier this year up at Heron Island. The Great Barrier Reef is a magical place.

10. Greg Taylor

Greg Taylor Instagram

Greg Taylor (@jpeggreg) juggles running his own business and playing dad to three kids with building up an impressive, and envy-inducing, Instagram feed from his home base in Townsville.

“I don’t have as much time for Instagram as I would like. But when I do manage to get out I always have my camera nearby,” he says.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started in February 2012; a long-held love of photography drew me into it. I love how Instagram makes our world so much larger yet so much smaller at the same time.

I’ve made a lot of friends and had a lot of laughs on there. It also helped to improve my photography – getting tips and watching how the greats do it has rubbed off on me over the years.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

I would have to say the Sunshine Coast. I spent every Christmas there as a kid, waterskiing in the Maroochy River, riding our bikes to the beach for some bodyboarding, and heading down to the theme parks for the day. So many awesome memories.

I’m looking forward to taking my kids down there this Christmas so they can experience it for themselves.

11. Matthew Taylor

Matthew Taylor Instagram

Matthew Taylor (@matthewtaylorthomas) is a Brisbane-based “mile high cocktail waiter” (international flight attendant) and part-time Instagrammer. When he’s not heading out on a camping adventure or photographing waterfalls, you can find him planning his next road trip or counting down to his next adventure in Queensland.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I first joined Instagram at the start of 2012 but it wasn’t until about a year later that I learned the power of a hashtag and started connecting with other Instagrammers.

I love that I have formed real friendships and relationships, both personal and professional, all around the world. I also love it when people tell me that I have inspired them to travel to the destinations I have shared.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

Gah, that’s a tough question, like trying to choose the favourite of your children! I do love Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast when the whales are in town, but my favourite place to holiday and unwind would be the Whitsundays.

I love chilling out on island time, lying on those amazing beaches and spending countless hours in the water. The tropical cocktails with mini umbrellas help sweeten my choice also.

12. Andrew Tallon

Andrew Tallon Instagram

Brisbane-based landscape, wedding and commercial photographer Andrew Tallon (@andrewtallon/) always has his finger on the shutter release of his Canon Mark III, leaving a feed of wanderlust-fuelled photographs in his wake.

From epic sunrise and sunset shots to wedding portraits dripping with star trails, each of Andrew’s photos showcases a moment worth celebrating.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started out just using a personal account, posting some behind-the-scenes shots of my photography work. But after joining a few of Tourism and Events Queensland’s Instameets, I could see the enormous potential in having such an enthusiastic community meeting together to share great photos. That’s what I love most about it – how it allows the social side of photography to flourish.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

Three months ago I would have said the Whitsunday Islands, but after taking an Insta-trip earlier this year I have to say you just can’t beat the red dirt, big sky and beautiful bright stars of Outback Queensland.

13. Jarrad Seng

Jarrad Seng | 20 of the best Instagram accounts to follow

Triple threat Jarrad Seng (@jarradseng) is a Perth-based photographer, filmmaker and creative director. In the past 12 months he’s hung out of open plane windows to shoot the aerial landscapes of Iceland, captured portraits of Maasai children in remote Tanzania, road-tripped around Europe and spent 24 hours straight photographing strangers on the streets of Perth for the Perth Fashion Festival.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started on Instagram in early 2012 while I was touring with the then little-known UK musician Passenger, to give my friends and followers a little glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes. It soon evolved into sharing my favourite portrait and travel images from around the world.

What I love most about Instagram is the ability to connect and collaborate with strangers from all around the world. Some of the crew in my Paradise Through Your Lens vignette I met through Instagram, along with countless other projects. It’s a beautiful thing being able to create art across geographical boundaries.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

The Daintree Rainforest is my favourite place to explore and connect with the land on a spiritual level. There is something ancient and magical about that place.

14. Tracy Naughton

Tracy Naughton Instagram

Tracy Naughton (@letmesea) was born in New Zealand but crossed the ditch to base herself on the Sunshine Coast. The artist and photographer creates intricate photographic artworks printed onto timber or acrylic while also raising two children and volunteering for a youth art program.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I don’t Instagram as much as I would like but I love it for the fact it’s so easy to connect with people who are interested in the same things you are – and provides a great platform to bring your work to the world instantly.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

It would have to be Noosa. Even though it’s right on my doorstep it’s nice to soak in the area for a week or so. You really feel like you’re in a holiday destination when staying there.

15. Tony Kevin

Tony Kevin Instagram

Full-time speech pathologist and part-time photographer Tony Kevin (@tonnes) heads out and about to snap creative nature shots whenever he finds the time. “Instagram is not a full time thing for me, but something I really do enjoy. Instagramming full time would definitely be wonderful,” he says.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started Instagram around mid-2012 when I also started photography – it was a way for me to share my experiences, travels and adventures.

I love the ability to communicate and connect with people from around the world via Instagram; it’s a community where like-minded people can appreciate the beauty around us. It’s a simple platform to share adventures, spread positive messages, and just appreciate simple things through engagement with others.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

It’s just down the road from me; the Gold Coast. There are so many beautiful beaches to enjoy, numerous eateries, a vibrant bustling city filled with locals living the life and tourists wanting a brief taste.

What I enjoy exploring the most when I visit the Gold Coast though is the hinterland. A little inland from the ocean you find waterfalls, lush green hiking trails, hills overlooking the valley’s around Springbrook and Beechmont. I’ve found some really beautiful places, and there’s always something new to explore.

16. Kate Wall

Kate Wall Instagram

Kate Wall (@katethelightchaser) is a Sunshine Coast photographer but says she also spends a fair bit of time on a property near Beaudesert in the Scenic Rim. Her account strikes a balance between beach and bush, with her animals and beloved Broncos rugby league team sneaking in too!

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I first started on Instagram over Christmas 2012. I probably didn’t do too much on Instagram until about 18 months ago though and really started to use it in the last year.

I love the great outdoors, camping, 4WDing and road trips so being able to share this with a greater audience and encourage them to do so too is fantastic!

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island. I’ve grown up going on camping trips to these beautiful places, and they’re still my favourite for a weekend away! Rainbow is only a 90-minute drive for me and having a 4WD, I can hop onto the barge from Inskip Point and head over to Fraser easily. It’s so accessible to get to one of the wonders of this world!

17. Kieran Tunbridge

Kieran Tunbridge Instagram

If you’re a fan of wave porn in your Instagram feed, click to follow Kieran Tunbridge (@ktunbridge) now. The surf and wedding photographer from the Sunshine Coast will have you wanting to run away and live by the ocean. Stat.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started my Instagram pretty much as soon as I caught wind of the app. It’s good for a little bit of networking and to share my work. It’s always nice to have people be interested in something you’re passionate about.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

I am pretty fond of where I live on the Sunshine Coast, however Moreton Island would probably be my next destination of choice. The water there is clear, the wildlife is incredible and the isolation if you wander the island. It’s hard to believe how many beautiful places there are right on our doorstep.

18. Jemma Craig

Jemma Craig Instagram

Warning: Before you even dive into her Instagram feed, let it be known that Jemma Craig (@islandjems) has an enviable lifestyle. The photographer and blogger was raised at a wildlife zoo on a tiny island in the Great Barrier Reef and is now based between Cairns and Green Island.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

Instagramming is a hobby for me at this stage but I’d love to turn it into a career, it’s become a true passion. Currently I work as a zookeeper and tour guide at the wildlife and crocodile zoo on Green Island – Marineland Melanesia. It is home to ‘Cassius,’ the Guinness World Records ‘Largest Crocodile in Captivity in the World’ (he’s 5.5m and about 110 years old)!

I started on Instagram about a year and a half ago after my friend @beijingemily convinced me to join. After her success (230k followers) I thought why not try show off my beautiful part of the world? I grew up on Green Island, so it was part of my everyday routine to see things that other people could never even dream of. Up until i joined Instagram, I suppose I took it for granted because I saw it all the time.

Being able to Instagram, I have gotten back this inspiration I haven’t seen since I was a child. So many doors have opened, I have discovered a passion for photography, blogging, tourism, social media and reinforced my love of the ocean. Through experiencing the interaction I receive on my posts, and seeing other Instagrammers working hard to live the life of their dreams, every day it inspires me to do the same.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

For people that know my Instagram, it’s pretty obvious my favourite place to holiday is anywhere on the reef. There is so much magic to be found here, and you see something new every day. The Great Barrier Reef spells abundance for me. An abundance of life, of diversity, of islands and shoals, of people from around the world with a common dream, and an abundance of magic.

There are so many different ways to experience the reef and I feel like it deserves to be celebrated. I’m so lucky to be here.

19. Sean Scott

Sean Scott Instagram

Gold Coast locals have been fans of Sean Scott’s (@seanscottphotography) photography for years, but now the entire world is following along as he continues his endless hunt for inspiration and that epic shot.

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started on Instagram about three years ago. I have been a professional photographer with my gallery operating for over 12 years now and loved Instagram as it was a great platform for photographers to share their work and make friends all over the world.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

I was born in North Queensland and have lived in Queensland my whole life. There are too many places to pick a favourite but if I had to, I would say my home town of Burleigh Heads!

20. Kara Rosenlund

Kara Rosenlund Instagram

Stylist and photographer Kara Rosenlund (@kararosenlund) calls an old timber worker’s cottage in Brisbane home – although she has the cutest caravan that travels around the country with her, peddling her curated collection of vintage wares.

Touted “a modern day Martha Stewart” by UK interiors magazine Elle Decoration, Kara is currently working on a new range of homewares inspired by the Australian makers and crafters she met while travelling and documenting the country for her book, Shelter: How Australians Live (out in October 2015).

When did you start on Instagram and why? What do you love most about it?

I started Instagram in 2011/2012. I thought it was actually a photo editing platform to link to Facebook, so I actually had no idea what I was doing. I was using the filters and then syncing it to my Facebook page for my Travelling Wares Caravan business. Then one day these little red love hearts started appearing, and I thought, no way, there is someone out there.

What I love the most about Instagram is the sense of community. It is like finding your visual tribe. I travel all over, mostly alone, however I never feel alone as I have the tribe right there with me.

Where is your favourite place to holiday in Queensland and why?

It would be North Stradbroke Island. Old school and low key, renting an old fibro shack and going barefoot for days. Bliss!
