Gold Coast Marathon: High fives and beautiful beaches

It’s not hard to see why runners from across the globe love the Gold Coast Marathon. From Japan to Kenya and everywhere in between, people flock to Surfers Paradise each year to run the 42-kilometre race in truly beautiful surrounds. The sun, surf and sand are just the start of the experience, which sees crowds line the course from Main Beach to Southport.

The end of the race offers every competitor the chance to kick back and enjoy their surroundings at a much slower pace, whether that’s with a cheeky post-run swim or a well-deserved breakfast of champions.

Training may have already started for the 2016 race weekend on July 2 – 3, but here are our favourite moments from the 2015 Gold Coast Airport Marathon:
