Roger Federer feeding dolphins + more Brisbane International highlights
Whether it’s Maria Sharapova cuddling a koala or Roger Federer feeding wild dolphins at Tangalooma, there’s a higher than usual chance of spotting the world’s best tennis stars around Queensland come January.
The Grand-Slam champs join a host of players from across the globe to battle it out at the Brisbane International at the start of every year. And in 2016, the clash will happen from January 3 to 10.
In the past five years alone, the tournament has seen the likes of Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Murray, Ana Ivanovic and Serena Williams take to the court in Tennyson.
With a seating capacity of 5500, the Brisbane International offers an up-close-and-personal experience. Here’s what Maria Sharapova had to say after playing (and winning!) in 2015:
“Pat Rafter Arena is very unique, it’s very intimate. I feel like every fan gets a great perspective on the sport and the athletes and that’s very important when they’re in their seat, [that] they can see everything.”
