6 things to do these summer school holidays on the Sunshine Coast
Kick off the school holidays with these summer activities we prepared earlier…
1. Groms only
Head to Kawana Beach on 14 and 15 December for surfing action and good times. Enter the kids into the Surfer Groms Comp – there will be loads of prize giveaways and beach games. The best part? It’s free.
2. Christmas, Aussie style
Celebrate Christmas at Aussie World with unlimited rides, a wander through Santa’s village to spot Rudolph, roving carollers and entertainers on 21 December with their Christmas Under the Stars. Don’t forget that Santa hat because the best dressed family will win some cash!
3. Under the sea
Fall asleep watching sharks, manta rays and colourful fish swimming by with the return of Underwater World Sea Life Mooloolaba‘s family sleepovers on 13 December. The experience includes a night in the aquarium, a twilight tour with headlights, a behind-the-scenes tour, seal presentation, a rocky shore ramble on Mooloolaba beach, meals and sleeping bags.
4. DIY ranger duty
Take a short stroll along Hastings Street to Noosa National Park, one of Queensland’s few coastal National Parks. Escape the heat, spot resident koalas dozing in the trees and cool off with a swim at one of the beaches around the headland.
5. Need for speed
Looking for some action? Head to the Big Kart Track, the largest commercial go kart track in Australia at 1.2km long. Kids can get a taste of the action on the fully-supervised Kids Track or jump in with mum or dad on the double seaters.
6. Feed the dolphins
Hand-feed Mystique, the friendly dolphin and his pal Harmony at the Barnacles Dolphin Centre and Cafe in Tin Can Bay. Being wild, the dolphins aren’t always punctual but sit back, enjoy the scenery with a drink from the cafe and you’ll be rewarded for your patience!
