The ultimate Queensland fishing bucket list [video]

Q: What does it take to conquer the Queensland fishing bucket list?

A: Two mates, six fish and a host of fishing spots in a tropical paradise.

At least that was the story when Az and Strick of Back to Basics Adventures set out recently to try their hand at landing some of the most sought-after fish species in Queensland.

The boys began their search in the freshwater streams of the Tropical North nailing the barramundi and jungle perch immediately. Next, the duo headed offshore to reel in the big ones – the reef and blue water species: giant trevally, coral trout, mackerel and the big daddy, black marlin.

As the sun set over the horizon, we began to realise just how lucky we are to live in this part of the world.

Mouth watering just reading this? There’s nothing wrong with keeping a few legal fish for the table, but please remember these Top 3 sustainable fishing practices when you’re casting a line in Queensland:

  • Practice catch-and-release fishing, unless it’s an invasive species.
  • Fish with lead-free weights.
  • Pack up what you pack in and take all of your rubbish with you.

What do you think? Did we include all the fish on your Queensland bucket list? What did we miss?
