Qualia: 24 hours at the best resort in the world

You thought huts on sticks on the water in Bora Bora was the pinnacle of luxury? Not anymore.

Yesterday’s announcement of Conde Nast Traveller’s Readers Choice Award shows you really don’t have to travel far to get the best luxury experience in the world, with qualia on Hamilton Island topping the magazine’s list of the world’s 100 best resorts.

As the first Australian resort to ever top the list in the award’s 25-year history, the Hamilton Island resort scored a perfect 100 in the categories: room, service, food, location, design and activities. In comparison, the Four Seasons in Bora Bora trailed in at 9th place with a humble score of 98.1.

Here’s a look at what a day in the lap of luxury looks like.
